So I've just watched Rosemary's Baby again (for the fifth time or so). Two things struck me: how extremely detailed and well-researched the movie is - because Satanists aren't monsters, of course - or at least they don't look like monsters 😊 And I think it's the only movie that gets that across really well.
And the other thing - the thing that really creeps me out - is the parallels between the movie and the real life of Mia Sinatra - I mean Mia Farrow and Roman Polanski - that's where it gets really dark - so dark that it's one of the few topics I'm really afraid to talk about.
Although I don't know enough about it at the moment anyway - especially the stuff with Charles Manson and the brutal ritual murder (or at least the newspapers at the time actually called it a ritual murder) of Polanski's wife and unborn child. But at some point I want to make a video about it because it does illustrate some things and of course not least of which is that there are some aspects of some of these ideologies that are really, really dangerous.
I already hinted at this a little bit in my video about The Matrix.
Because it actually has nothing to do with science fiction, but is an old Gnostic belief that was incorporated into it and especially with the actually so nice and harmless-looking Manson women who killed Polanski's unborn baby, this played a very important role, or rather they said it very clearly in interviews.
Namely that they were able to do such horrible things because they were told that the physical world was an illusion and a prison in which the Demiurge (the equivalent of the Architect in the Matrix) was holding us captive and therefore if they killed someone it was actually a good thing, because that person would then wake up in the real world and be free. They really believed that.
